Srinagar (KNO) : National conference leader Advocate Nazir Ahmad Malik is concerned about deterioting condition of health sector in Bandipora area of North Kashmir and has asked for early completion and fully equipped building of District hospital Bandipora. Malik said that due to governments apathy and incompetence of local political leaders the multi crore project is in limbo thus forcing patients to suffer.“He said that Government’s failure to complete the project within stipulated time showed indifferent nature of the authorities towards the problems of the people who are forced to suffer and had to visit Srinagar for specialized treatment”. He said the non-completion of Bandipora Hospital has exposed the tall claims of State Government of providing quality healthcare to the people living in rural areas. In absence of the much-needed structure, the hospital administration converted Dispensary into SDH and then into District Hospital which is affecting the effective delivery of healthcare in the area. Malik blamed local political leaders for its delay “when District Hospital was sanctioned to provide better healthcare in the area the tussle between local political leaders wasted money and took more than three years to relocate the earlier construction land,”. He said, The hospital is to be completed at a budget of Rs 25 Crores. “However the funds were not released on time and approximately each year only 1 or 2 crores are released causing a delay and the project has earlier missed many deadlines thus giving tough time to patients.Referrals to Srinagar hospitals are full of danger owing to bad road and long distance, Malik said”. Malik demanded full equipments in the hospitals “as the project has consumed more than 12 years the hospital should be now fully equipped and then be innaugrated after proper checkup of machinery and facilities to be provided, the poor people of Bandipora should not be ignored and suffered more he added,”.(KNO)
